16/3/21 Special Times: Passover Learning

The reception children welcomed back one of our special visitors, Jane, who represents the Exeter Hebrew Congregation. Jane retold the story of Moses and the Pharoah and then recreated a traditional Seder table with the help of the children. The children learnt about how each part of the meal symbolised something from the story, such as the matzos (flatbreads) being eaten to remind Jews of how the slaves did not have time to allow the yeast to rise when they fled Egypt and that the egg symbolised new life and freedom from slavery. The children (and adults) got to try several parts of the meal which really brought the learning to life! Huge thanks to Jane for such an inspiring afternoon of learning.

The children were very excited this morning to put on their festive show clothes and sing a selection of songs as well as a seasonal poem. We’re sure you’ll agree that they looked and sounded amazing. Well done children - we’re very proud of you all and hope that you have a lovely Christmas.

Reception have been working hard this week to learn the nursery rhyme 'Miss Polly had a dolly' which they performed brilliantly to our children in the nursery. We then watched the nursery children perform their rhymes: 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'Humpty Dumpty'. Please enjoy the reception children's performance in the video below.

Kandinsky class have been enjoying learning about fictional superheroes as part of their 'Superheroes' topic this term, having focused on the Supertato book series by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet - the children even created their own villains which will be sent to the authors. To finish our non-fiction part of the topic, we had our very own Superhero day and the children all looked fantastic. Little did they know that there were some unexpected villains on the day but they used their superpowers to save the day! We will be learning about real superheroes over the coming weeks, the people that keep us safe in our community and will be joined by PCSO Nick Mizon on Monday 23rd November which is sure to be another exciting day.

WC: 12/10/20 Learning

This week we have been learning about our selves and our differences.  We have been celebrating Black History Month, specifically learning about about Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, in literacy we wrote about what we would do to make the world a better place if we were president for a day.

We have also been learning about the importance of healthy eating and exercise. We have been learning about how to look after ourselves and our bodies.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here are a few photos from the children's first day at School. They have had a lovely day getting to know their new teachers as well as getting to know their new classrooms.

First day of school

Day 2

The children had another lovely morning at school and enjoyed their first PE session with Mr. Lowman. In these sessions they will be developing their agility, balance and co-ordination. Don't forget that PE will be every Tuesday and Wednesday morning from Week 3.

Day 3

We had a lovely day today, exploring our new classroom and resources. Today we explored the story Elmer and in Art we created our own collages using different materials. We learnt about colour and investigated what happens if you mix colours together.
