At Willowdown Primary, we believe learning should be exciting and engaged for all children. Within the EYFS, our aim is to provide a creative curriculum to capture every child's imagination and interest. The curriculum includes 7 areas of learning.

Please see the attachment below to see the curriculum overview. Children in Reception Class should be working within the age band of 40-60. By the end of the academic year, reception children should have achieved GLD (Good Level of Development), which is also highlighted in BOLD in the document attached.
Phonics at Willowdown Primary
At Willowdown Primary, Phonics is at the core of Willowdown Primary Schools curriculum.
We teach our children to read and write using the Letters and Sounds scheme. We also use Jolly phonics actions and songs to accompany this scheme.
During your child's time in Nursery they would have been exposed to phonics phase 1. Phase 1 is where a child learns to distinguish between the sounds they can hear.
Children entering reception will be exposed to phase 2,3 and 4.
By the End of reception the children will have learnt how to read and write. Upon entering year 1, the children will progress onto phase 5 phonics.
