Willowdown Primary School

Happy Children, Successful Learners, Confident Individuals

ITV West Country News comes to Willowdown

This morning, Ben McGrail, took an assembly and talked to the KS2 pupils about what it's like to be a journalist and what a wonderful career choice it is. During the assembly, the children were also given the opportunity to hold a microphone (called 'the dog') and ask questions. One of the most popular questions was, 'Who is the most famous person you have interviewed?' Ben's response was a Prime Minister (David Cameron), Sir Clive Woodward (previously England's Rugby Manager) and Sir Steve Redgrave (5 times gold medalist, in rowing). Quite a number of the pupils said that they now might like to be a journalist in the future.

After, six Y6 pupils had the opportunity to attend a special mini training session about how to film and take part in an interview.

If you wish to see Ben in action, he is on ITV West Country News most nights on the 6pm show.

Many thanks to Ben for his time today, we really appreciate it.
