Children’s Dance Parade – Saturday 2nd November 2019
After our first successful year organising the Children’s Dance Parade, we would like to invite your son/ daughter to take part in this year’s event.
We are hoping to get over 200 young dancers involved who will perform alongside Dance and Performing Arts students from Bridgwater and Taunton College through Bridgwater town centre. This year’s parade will take place on Saturday 2nd November at 2.15pm.
Rehearsals for this year’s dance parade will take place at Bridgwater and Taunton College (Bridgwater Site) in the Sports Hall on the following days:
Tuesday 1st October 4.30-5.30
Tuesday 8th October 4.30- 5.30
Tuesday 15th October 4.30- 5.30
Tuesday 22nd October 4.30- 5.30
Monday 28th October (Half Term) 10.30am - 3.30pm (please bring lunch)
Students need to be dropped outside Bridgwater Arts Centre at 1.45pm on Saturday 2nd November and be ‘signed in’ by a member of staff from their school. Please note that due to number of students etc, there will be no space for parents, carers or siblings etc to remain at the Arts Centre. Please also ensure that students do not hold onto any belongings (coats, bags, bottles etc) as they will not be returning to the Arts Centre to collect them.
Parents and carers are then free to locate a suitable spot to watch the parade. Due to health and safety regulations parents are not able to follow the parade. The students start the parade at 2.15pm on the town bridge. The students then dance their way up through Fore Street and the High Street, finishing at the town hall.
Parents/Carers of Primary School children are required to collect their children from behind the town hall at 3pm in Clare Street, where the teachers will ‘sign out’ the students. Secondary students will be able to leave once the parade has finished.
Students are to wear PLAIN BLACK leggings/PLAIN BLACK long sleeve T-shirt, black daps or black trainers with black socks and will be provided with a Carnival T-shirt to wear over the top over the top.
We hope that you are interested in getting involved in this year’s Dance Parade.
