These are some of the things we have been doing in our first week of nursery.
We have returned and settled really well.
We are very confident to explore the environment and we are enjoying our new large garden that we share with reception.
Molly, Bob and Marvellous Me!
some of you have already had the pleasure of taking these home.
Molly and Bob are our Nursery friends and they get to go home with someone every weekend. Please record your weekend with them in the diary and add photographs. These are designed to make a link with your child's home life and nursery and we use these to promote confidence to talk about themselves.
Marvellous Me! is designed to promote confident talkers especially in a group situation. Your child needs to put things in the box that are special to them and they will be encouraged and supported to talk about them. Please ensure that you only send items that fit in the box.
This week we have been talking about our bodies and what fantastic things we can do with it. We have been looking at non-fiction books which we know give us information.
We have been moving in a variety of ways.
We have looked at keeping our bodies clean and healthy and practiced brushing teeth....Smile!
We have talked about our senses and what it would be like if we didn't have them.
Family and Friends
We have been talking about our families and friends and what they mean to us.
We have looked at who lives with us and how not all families are the same.
We are also really enjoying our transition times with Reception and we are having opportunities to experience different things.
Fun at the Fair

Enoying the cold weather!!!!
we enjoyed exploring the outdoors, we looked at our breath in the air and we found lots of ice which we explored and discussed how it got there!
Keeping Ourselves Healthy
We have been looking at different ways to keep ourselves healthy. We have linked our learning to different stories such as Handa's surprise and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have been doing a range of activities; we have made a fruit salad and tasted new fruits and we have painted with foods and also had a go at weaving. You can see some of our work in the nursery on display.
We are also introducing our teeth cleaning policy where parents can bring in a toothbrush for their child and staff will encourage tooth hygiene. We have had a very positive response to this.
Chinese New Year
We have been celebrating Chinese New Year!
We have been making dragon masks and practicing our dragon dance, we are getting very good at moving in response to music.
As part of our celebrations we have been tasting new foods and talking about likes and dislikes.
We have enjoyed listening to the story of the animals race and how it came about that the year was named after an animal. This year it is the year of the Rooster.
We have looked at the Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks to start our theme on Traditional Stories.
We have looked at the number 3 and sorted by size- big, middle sized and little.
We have printed with shapes and painted our own characters. We have acted out our story using props and instruments to represent the characters.
Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday)
We celebrated Pancake Day by making and tasting Pancakes. We also watched a story on the interactive screen that told us all about why we do celebrate this day.
The pancakes were yummy!!

We have been enjoying mark making inside and outside using a range of media.
We are beginning to understand that when we make circles and lines we can make a recognisable picture and many of us can now say what we are drawing and talk about our work.
Under the Sea
We have had lots of fun with our Under the Sea theme.
We have acted out the story of the Rainbow fish with props and masks, we have made our own masks with our work experience student and also made a 'Giant' octopus!
