Phonics in year one!
Phonics has changed a little since reception! We are now learning the alternative sounds to all the phase 2 sounds by clicking the link below. By clicking the link you will find all of the sounds written down, a range of word examples and also a video to help you to pronounce the sounds correctly at home.
In phase three we learnt the more challenging digraphs (two letters that make one sound), then towards the end of phase three we started to even learn trigraphs (three letters that make one sound). In phase four we learnt the consonant clusters that still challenge us to this day! Consonant clusters are two consonants that blend together in a word.
