Willowdown Primary School was constructed in 2014 to accommodate 210 pupils. Somerset County Council has predicted that the school will be over capacity by September 2019 with a further 1350 houses expected to be built in its catchment area by 2032.
The school has been constructed with shared spaces which have been designed for twice their current pupil and staff capacity in anticipation of this expansion.
To solve the problem of our growing community the school proposes to gradually expand with seven new classrooms, an activity space and 26 additional Nursery places.
The County Council will work with the Clevedon Learning Trust to ensure the expansion causes the minimum amount of disruption to pupils.
There will be a consultation meeting held at the school on Thursday 20th June at 3:30pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the school designs and have any questions answered and considered as part of the consultation.
Please leave your written feedback here if you are unable to come to the consultation meeting.
Please state whether you are in support or object to the proposed expansion in your message and add any further comments you would like to make.
